Stop Factory Farm Pollution in Iowa
Factory farms in Iowa have evaded regulation for decades, polluting Iowa’s water with abandon. Now our waterways are choked with algae and E. coli, our natural ecosystems are endangered, and our drinking water is contaminated with nitrates, costing local communities millions for water treatment and threatening our health.
Iowa needs a moratorium on new and expanding factory farms, and existing factory farms must be required to obtain Clean Water Act permits.
Support Protective Zoning Ordinances in West Deer Township
For several years, West Deer Township has been working on revisions to all local zoning ordinances. But the most recent draft of their Oil & Gas Ordinance could allow drilling in nearly every zoning district, dangerously close to where people reside.
To ensure stronger protections for the community, we demand that the Board make the following changes to the proposed ordinance:
